New Face of the Dealer
What is your idea of a dealer at a gambling house? Is it of someone who is serious looking, wears bow tie and just deals the cards?
In the past, the image or role of the dealer is simply to deal those cards. They also manage the bets placed on the table, and also represent the house in gambling games played against the house.
This image is a very strict one, and it worked for centuries. However, times are changing, and so the dealer should also evolve.
It has been realized that the gambling industry is not just a venue to win some money. People are going to gambling houses today more for the fun of it, not just for the money. Because of this, more has been asked to the dealer other than just shuffling the deck of cards.
Today, the dealers at gambling houses are expected to entertain the gambling clients. The gambling players expect their dealers to be more cheerful, more talkative and more fun to be with. A gambling house with fun dealers is more attractive to gambling players than the others.
It is not too much to ask really. Think of it this way: if you are a dealer, you work long hours. Don't you want some conversations yourself? Also, think of the gambling players, they pay a lot to be able to play at expensive gambling houses, so why not give them a little extra? If you see it this way, then you will learn that having an entertaining dealer is good for all parties involved.
The question is, how do you get this kind of dealers?
Well, if you are a gambling house operator, you may want to include in the job requirements of the dealer to be entertaining. Another easy way is to get fun people who do not know a thing about dealing, but you will have to train them. Or, you may choose to get professional dealers and train them to be more fun.
There are certain ways how a dealer can bring fun to the gambling game. The dealer may use some sort of script, with punchlines that he can deliver in front of the gambling players. He should also practice a lot to master the delivery of these punchlines. If you have a grumpy dealer among your staff, consider having his behavior adjusted. Remember, no one wants to play with a dealer with bad attitude.
